Pacific Golden-Plover or Kolea, Pluvialis fulva DSC 0124
The Pacific Golden Plover breeds chiefly in the Arctic coast region of Siberia and in a more limited area on the Alaskan coast. Some of the birds probably migrate south via the continent of Asia to winter in Japan, China, India, Australia, New Zealand, and Oceania. Others evidently go south by way of the Pacific Ocean to the Hawaiian Islands and other islands of the central and southern Pacific. Migrating golden plovers have been observed at sea on a line that apparently extends from Hawaii to the Aleutian Islands; it appears certain some of the Alaskan birds make a nonstop flight across the sea from Alaska to Hawaii. This bird was photographed at Kilauea Military Camp on the Big Island of Hawaii.
ABQ - Boarding the nonstop flight to SFO
Linda S. is absolutely amazing, She works for United at ABQ. We were scheduled to leave on a flight to Denver (then transfer to SFO), but it was delayed. I noticed there was an earlier, direct flight, to SFO.
At 4:35 pm, I asked Linda what she could do for us. She was amazing! She got us new boarding passes right away, then personally transferred our luggage from the DEN flight to the SFO flight. By personally, I mean that she was on the tarmac and carried our bags herself. I watched her from the window.
At 5 pm, she had us board the small Canadair (50 passengers) to SFO. Linda rules!
